Racial Harmony

No free speech in Singapore
"I have always felt that a lot of things are unfair in Singapore. However, those feelings were toned down when a horde of my narrow-minded relatives keep telling me that my feelings are aroused because I, like many other teens in Singapore, am influenced by the western culture. I'm Chinese, and they think that i should stick to the traditional beliefs, which are considered the best. I'm not prejudiced against my own culture, so I decided to take things easy and accept the fact that I'm never going to be able to make my family understand what I'm thinking. However, my determination to make a difference has never been stronger now. I know that the government is opposed to anybody who stands up to it because they do not want trouble. I can understand that but until recently, I learned that in my lessons that Singapore is a free country and the citizens are allowed to use their voice. If they give us this privilege, we are supposed to use it correctly. As in correctly only in praises and compliments? Racial discrimination isn't wildly strong but sometimes, we still can't see eye to eye and that's because there is lack of understanding for each other's cultures
