The Da Vinci Code.
Amid all the adult controversies and the challenges posed to Dan Brown.
I have come to a simple conclusion: Adults are so shortsighted.
Its a book for pete's sake.A book Catergorised as fiction, for all those ninny-wits out there who don't know what F-I-C-T-I-O-N is I will be so kind as to even DEFINE it for you.
1. A literary work whose content is produced by the imagination and is not necessarily based on fact.
2. The category of literature comprising works of this kind, including novels and short stories.
IMAGINATION. I think some of our readers are lacking that. However for the sake of argument that whaterver that is written in the book is a lie.
4. Something untrue that is intentionally represented as true by the narrator.
Goodness! Ofcourse if you were an author you would want people to believe your story.Make it so real that it really gets the reader thinking,is this true? It gets the readers scratching their head, USING THEIR BRAIN,to reflect on whats true.
That makes A GOOD BOOK
Its fiction.Whats in the book ain't entirely true. Read Snow White or little mermaid or whatever fairytales. You think there are really half naked human fishes swimming in the depth of our oceans and falling in love with some prince. You think there is a woman so perfect as Snow White who would stand to live in dwarves houses or accept an apple from a hag? OFCOURSE NOT.
Don't tell me you take each fact at face value and then try to disect something so superficial as words... Read between the lines! Read the meaning not just the facts that the Dan wants you to believe. Its like reading the morals of the stories from fairy tales.
Besides everything in the book is just a theory, a big IF.
You don't have to be so uptight about it.Its an idea.
Its like a two year coming up with a theory that strawberries should by right taste like drinking straws since its a STRAWberry
You will just laugh it off right? I mean its so silly, but its an opinion.
Similarly, people shouldn't react so strongly about theories.and fiction.
I also hate it when people try to defame the book when they haven't properly read it.
Today in Straits Times, life section, there was just this guy proudly proclaiming that he hadn't read the book. Then he says the book is about the bible being untrue.
Dan Brown never said that, he said the bible was true but maybe not all true since there is historical evidence that the gospels in the bible was voted upon.
And to all those who can't sift through real facts from fiction.Don't even try to read the book.
Stay away from me.
