Can we swallow if we are upside down?
Yes, you can swallow upside down because the muscles around the esophagus are strong enough to push the food up to your stomach. I do not, however, recommend you try this anytime soon.

Get this.

To better understand achalasia, you need to learn how we
normally swallow. The trick is to get the food to go down into the stomach and
not puke. Your esophagus, or foodpipe, is not just a hollow lifeless
tube. Rather, it is a made of several layers of muscle tissue that contract in a
rhythmic fashion, like waves on a beach. These so-called peristaltic waves carry
the food down to your stomach like a conveyor belt. That is why you can hang
upside down and still eat a sandwich.

And Also this.

When you swallow, the muscles behind the food contract automatically, pushing the food along the esophagus, and forcing it down into the stomach. This squeezing action is known as peristalsis. When you swallow, the small flap of tissue which you can see hanging down at the back of your throat when you look in a mirror, closes off the entrance to your windpipe. At the same time another flap closes the tube leading to your nose. So, yes, you could swallow upside down without choking.

So.Its official,we can swallow upside down only that no sane person will ever do it.
Was that the question in biology again ? I thought so:)
