Yes, the shelf life of this particular brand is short. Not to worry though because the head honcho of the company will milk the product for all it is worth in terms mediocre albums, interviews and the rest of the stuff that gets a little tiring after a while. Then the company produces new flavours. In short when the product gets old the process is this- Lather, rinse and repeat.
Of course while this is said, it means no offence to people who get addicted to the product. After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and perhaps insane people like me just can't see the nutritional value in it.
The last three paragraphs + picture can be dismissed because i just digressed on a topic i haven't started on. Recently(yesterday), i have taken to watching a a much raved about Taiwanese drama serial to see what all the fuss was about. (although it was convenient that my sister loves the show and i just happened to wonder it and sit beside her in front of the computer)
Surprisingly enough,i could actually feel myself being drawn into the whole torrent of events even though most of it was just pure fluff. The serial (Hana Kimi) plays on the whole Shakespeare Twelfth Night thing although it has been suitably sugared down to be set in an all-boys school consisting of a hardly believable cross-dressing girl who is there because of a guy whom she likes studies there and she is conveniently placed in the same room as him and the guy conveniently likes her back.
I know, its awfully convenient.
The plot sounds familiar too. She's the Man. Ring any bells? That must be it,i hear them chiming in your heads. I have a basis in comparing them.
While I throw away the fact that She's the Man is technically not a serial anything, I will silently contemplate on why a Drama Serial (aka a spring board for upcoming talents to venture into the media if they wish) should appeal so much more. Believe me, although i am not the first person you would normally come to when you have problems with your Chinese homework, i could tell that the script wasn't well crafted for Hana Kimi. So why the hell is it so endearing.
I have watched Hollywood romance stories, from the ones shown in Disney channel( High School Musical) and more recently Shakespeare in Love. However, i have never been caught up in its romance. It might be because of the distractions ( the singing and the tights) but Hana Kimi has it's fair share of distractions too ,usually involving some attempted plot manoeuvre which is ,at time, painful to watch.
Apart from Hana Kimi, other Asian Drama Serial's romance seem to be much better then those portrayed in Western media. Take for example, Princess Hours or pick any of the Hong Kong TV serials. Its just better somehow even if the romance goes bad.
Maybe its the eye-candy? Or just because its simply undiluted sweetness. I'm sure i will get to the bottom of this or else it will haunt me forever in my teens.
(Beverly in her state of temporary stupor shall probably wait for the last episode of Hana Kimi to air in Taiwan tonight and thereafter think up solutions to the problem while sleeping.Yes it IS a problem.)
