This is insane. Potter fever seems to have got to me again.

What an insipid idea to put both the movie and the release of the book in the same and not give us a holiday to fully pour over everything and the END of one of the most accomplished series in the history of YA novels.

I shall get the "Call me if you feel traumatised over Fictional Characters" hot line ready(yes there is one in Britain),

Twinkle friends: Hello, my name is May, please hold while i steady myself
for another torrent of problems which has nothing to do with me what so ever and
attempt to solve them.

Me: Harry Potter has ended! My life feels like black void. There is no
point in living when I cannot see or read the words that have accompanied
me for the past 6 years-

Twinkle Friends: Poor dear, when did he break up with you?

Although methinks that the phone bill will give me a heart attack before anything else does.

The cover jackets are rather interesting. I'm not sure if they are by the same artist but it seems the US and the UK has a vastly different interpretation of how old the Golden trio is.

Harry hasn't aged a bit in the US edition but the UK edition seems to have taken to depicting him as an adult. A persona which doesn't really suit him much since Harry doesn't really have the time to enjoy a childhood. He grew up too fast and all he got was a few scattered moments of happiness.

Oh well, too bad for him. Truly, sometimes i wonder what really got him through the years. I guess raw determination and bull-headness can get you really far in life.

Let us dissect the covers!

US Cover:

I really liked this one. The colour and everything, the subtle messages that i don't have a clue to what they mean.

There is the locket on Harry's chest, presumably its the hoax locket he and Dumbledore found. Or not. Does anyone notice? The locket actually has a profile of a woman's face on it.

I wonder what's its significance. Didn't JK Rowling say we will learn something about Lily Potter? Was this her locket?

The thing that first hits you when you look at the cover is not the locket though. What are they reaching for? An item? or something less substantial? Notice harry's expression? To me it's saying something like "I've got to get it." rather then a "I'm dead" although that may be him acting all Noble again. Where is Hermione by the way and Ron?

The fact that Harry and Voldermort are alone in an arena and wandless suggests that something really unusual is happening, something that may be dated in the history books. A situation that has never occurred before.

Perhaps in the end, as much support and love Harry can draw from hermione and ron and maybe even ginny, he's on his own in the facedown.

UK edition:

Oh god, no offence or anything but this is really ugly. The trio's faces looked squashed up, the colour is really gaudy, fortunately we have a choice in purchasing the type of book covers

The only redeeming factor to the whole thing is that there are more details here.

Hark its the hogwarts castle! Perhaps there is one last trip to the Castle. I see dobby behind Harry holding a sword, maybe its Griffindor's sword, which means they definitely went back to take the sword. Or if it wasn't Dobby then it might have been kreacher. Maybe the veil transports him to the scene in the US edition.

All the shadowy figures in the US edition might be people who cannot take part in the whole showdown but are instead, bound to keep secrets forever.

The trio seems to have survived a battle and discovered a horde of gold. Now they are being sucked into a veil. If it really was kreacher holding the sword, Kreacher would most certainly want Harry to die thus dragging Harry down with him as the veil sucks them in.

There are certain symbols I'm not certain of, what does the circle within the triangle mean? (Its on the book spine). The patranous might be another indication of Harry's link to his Parent's past.

By the way, anyone noticed the awful robes Hermione and Ron are wearing?

Adult UK:

They always choose a single object to embody the whole story eg. A Goblet for Goblet of fire, a stone Phoenix for the Order of Phoenix and the Potions book in the Half Blood Prince.

All of these objects played an important part in the whole story so i imagine that the locket will do the same.

With this post i do declare:
